Thomas
Baumgarten
Thomas Baumgarten holds a degree as Graduate Engineer
in ”Media Technology” from the University
of Applied Science in Stuttgart, Germany. He studied
Media Design at the City College of Göttingen,
graduated in "Modern Art“ at University
of Tübingen and studied TV Production at
the Texas State Technical Institute Waco, Texas,
USA.
Thomas Baumgarten knows every aspect of production,
starting his career in 1992 as Camera Assistant
on Feature Film Productions in Canada. Returning
to Germany worked on a number of successful TV-series,
Animated Feature Films one such as "Asterix
in America“ and "Werner-Volles Roäää“.
Later he established and managed the 3D-Animation
Department at the Babelsberg fx.Center, located
at the Babelsberg Studios in collaboration with
Hewlett Packard, Softimage, Alias, Discreet Logic
and Mental Images. He then headed the 3D- und
VFX department of Artemedia AG, producing 3D-Animation,
VFX for TV, Feature Films and Commercials. From
2000 to 2004 he was responsible for the production
of seven Animated TV-Series and an Animated Feature
Film for BAF- Berlin Animation Film in the positions
of a Head of Post-Production and Head of Production.
During that time he also supervised the production
of several documentaries for Greenlight Media
AG. From 2005 to 2006 he was appointed by BAF-
Berlin Animation Film as Executive Producer on
a TV-series. Until February 2007 he was a Consultant
for the finalization of the CG-Animated Feature
Film "Happily N‘Ever After“ for
BAF- Berlin Animation Film in collaboration with
Odyssey Entertainment and Lionsgate Films.
